I'm such a rebel & doing Friday Five on a Saturday. I laugh in the face of (fannish) convention!

Five reasons a characters you have or had a crush on/find attractive but who would be a bad boyfriend or girlfriend in real life.

(In chronological order, and always assuming that the canon partner or love interest doesn't exist.)

1. Fox Mulder, The X-Files. He rocked those suits, and he sure was in touch with his emotional side, but let's face it, on his list of priorities, I'd be listed below space alien conspiracies and way below his sister. The latter especially? Never ends well.

2. William the Bloody aka "Spike," Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Everyone wants great passion and devotion, it's true, but even when the shrine in the basement has been abandoned and there's been some soul-searching (and -finding), I'm thinking an animated corpse with issues--some of which purely physical, like that flammability--may make life more difficult than I, at least, am prepared for.

3. Buffy Summers, duh. She may be off the air, but she's still pretty, and pretty damn awesome to boot. That said, with every partner so far who wasn't a summer-in-Italy-fling, she's been a) too emotionally involved, b) not sufficiently emotionally involved, or c) fighting these feelings--and the partner himself!--tooth and nail, and I bruise easily, you know?

4. Will Tippin, Alias. Yes, he's hot and sweet and courageous like hell when push comes to shove, not to mention that he is at once convincing as a rock star, a construction worker, and an impromptu superspy, but on the other hand...uh. Err. Hey, you know what? He'd be an AWESOME boyfriend. Any time, any place, any way really. ♥

5. John Sheppard, Stargate Atlantis It's not that I think he can only love Rodney McKay (although that might just be true); it's not even that canon itself shows us continually that he'd rather shoot himself in the leg than talk about his emotions or connect sexually and romantically with someone female who's not pre- or post-Ascended. It's the fact his hair might be cooler than mine. It'd always gnaw at me. Okay, fine, it's really door #2.

See, I think Buffy would be an awesome girlfriend if she loved you, because you wouldn't have any alpha male hangup about her being the strong warrior.
On the other hand, my B/A shipping heart says that she will never really love anyone else omgeleventyone, at which point, when I am choosing Angel for her over you, I have to really step back and remind myself about reality as we know it.
