Booked a flight to London today and, thanks to the utter loveliness of my friends, have quite a few highlights planned already -- just a week, really, but it won't necessarily be vacation-only; I plan to pounce on all and any job opportunities.

Should you have any advice -- or links -- on how to best structure one's CV for the UK job market, I'm all ears (and ♥s)!

(If job search musings & inquiries bother you in any way, it's probably best to take me off the flist. I'll cut-tag rather liberally, as always, but from now on, expect little to no study whining and a lot Oh My God The Job Market, It Is A Fierce Beast Indeed! whining.)

Also, I baked bread and, today, bought a few slices of fine cheese to go with my first home-made crusty loaf of organic rye & wheat yumminess.

I would have taken a picture, but I rather think you've seen real bread before (on glossy photos if you're American, in posh stores if you're British, or somewhere in supermarkets and bakeries if you're European; apologies for excluding y'all Africans, Asians, & Australians, whom I would totally but cannot properly mock because I don't know your countries' bread culture. Cultures, even.)

Also couldn't by-pass the vegetarian caviar in the gourmet food section. It wasn't expensive, and I was amused and curious. Strict vegetarians who want that air of luxury and decadence: oxymoron y/n?

Your journal, your stuff. And I luv ya through thick and thin! You're looking for ... (what type of work/firm/company)? I'm more curious than able to offer any real help, most likely.

Have a great time!

Likewise! (I would totally hit on you thataway were I going to NYC.)

Well, you know my professional background -- it doesn't have to be strictly that; I'd also be interested in pretty much anything that makes use of my languages, my writing skills etc. pp.

Well, I'm in London and am happy to offer any advice I'm able to give :) What type of work are you looking for? CVs are often structured quite differently depending on the sector you want to work in. And some won't even look at a CV, they will only accept applications for vacancies they have on their own application forms. Some will want a full job/education history, others only the last 10 years. It's also equally (if not more) important to get your covering letter right.

Good luck!

Good luck job-hunting!

(And hey, we have real bread here! Just not in supermarkets; gotta go to real bakeries, like this one.) They do spend a lot of time explaining how they're copying Europe, though...)

Rye, yum!

That is tasty-looking!

Although I was being a bit facetious; large cities in the US do seem to have bakeries--at least on the East & West Coast and in the Mid-West, or so I hear. Hippie-ish places, too, Isis mentioned that about tiny-but-college-town Colorado, so yeah, it's not as bad everywhere as it is in the South, for example, where good bread really is hard to come by.
