Sandcastles in the sky
Drillbit Taylor? In the thanks-but-no-thanks category of films. I looked the name up only to jot down this drive-by anti-rec -- [info]grundbuch and I asked for the Sneak Preview and arrived five minutes after the opening sequence. Still, it was an invitation to the movies, and a good time en route as well as at his place afterwards.

...yup, I returned home yesterday evening. London photos will follow, although I must first upload them all and quiz [info]kangeiko, [info]ciderpress, [info]queenspanky, [info]athena25, [info]wingsmith, [info]solvent90, and [info]hesychasm about the ones that feature them (beautifully, I think, but people's taste in pictures of themselves...may vary. So to speak). Might also make some London icons.

Also got a new mobile phone. An SGH-U700 that came with the new O2 contract that I didn't recall, after all. I like the design but am not impressed with the usability, or lack thereof: Samsung, you fail. I miss my no-frills Nokia menus already. Form is nice, but I value function more. Actually, I don't think asking for both is too much.

The pictures it takes aren't that stellar, either, although admittedly this is only the front-view and not the main camera.

As for fandom, I'm pretty glad that I didn't do more than briefly skim the flist for 8 days -- that I instead met friends, poked at the job market, and worked on my CV as well as my tan (not at the same time).

Welcome home! I sent you a comment a couple of days ago only to *facepalm* when I realized that you were on vacation. D'oh. :D

*looks at your music* You watch Bones? Yay!

I saw that and smiled but didn't comment -- very little internet time, just via my tiny iPAQ where I have to type out every letter with my stylus. This, a whole keyboard, makes it much easier.

And I just started watching, yeah! I'm not a Boreanaz fan, but there is no emo brooding, and more than anything, the show does center around Bones, who is quite cool. I have a thing for women protagonists who don't behave quite like everybody else and who's stubborn about that. *g*

IMO the show gets better as it goes on. It helps that the role really plays to DB's strengths and downplays his weaknesses. And the women on the show are awesome.

I find it already quite lovely -- as you say, it really does feature more than one woman, and while Angela isn't written as very deep so far, I'm confident that may get better. And Bones: aw.

You're right that this role suits DB more; I'd bet money on it being quite close to his real-life persona. & ;-)

No, it's just pulled back! You'll see in the other photos.

I, too, recently switched to a Samsung after years of Nokia use, and ITA - Samsung is teh fail. I can't wait til I can switch back to a Nokia. I've had the phone for over a year, and I still can't figure out half the menus! *sigh*

*sad nod* It's a little better now that I have read the manual now, something that I usually don't do on principle -- if I need to read it for general use (not fancy functions), it's a bad product: Any consumer should be able to deal with essential electronic devices without having to sit down and work her or his way through the accompanying brochures. I personally am not pressed for time and don't mind tech speech all that much because it resembles language I'm familiar with & ;-), but seriously, I'm not the measure here.
