1. BtVS

A lot of Buffy/Faith fic is – understandably – dark, angry, dramatic, or all of the above; this one's different and precious because it hits all the right notes with them but does so gently, calmly. Piano.

2. BtVS/AtS

a) It's been pimped all over my Jossverse flist, and rightly so -- the vid of all the kick-ass BtVS/AtS women that gwyn_r has created. Looking back at all of them, good or evil, sweet or smart-ass, I miss them so. It just strikes me as amazing, this kind of variety of different characters, the way they were portrayed, for the most part. Other shows have had and will have female heroes or even superheroes, but this corner of the Jossverse will always, always be my favourite because it had it all. Had them all.

st_salieri is doing what hasn't been done often enough: She's writing a Jossverse/The X-Files crossover. Mulder! Scully! Spike! Buffy! Angel! I'm thoroughly charmed. WIP warning, and come to think of it, spit-take warning, too.

Feeling oddly drained after seven days of constantly reading and writing -- not for fun, for my jobs. Finally done. Started catching up with Veronica Mars -- a propos of no special plot point, Kendall makes me positively adore Cordelia, even the BtVS Cordy. Not that I don't love her trulymadlydeeply in You're Welcome where she does break my heart (the icon I made of her here? My fave shot of Cordy in all seven seasons of AtS/BtVS).

I've been busy writing, but I'm afraid it's all stuff that

a) you won't ever see, unless you read German & are caught up in unpleasantries, or

However, it just occurred to me that in the wake of the last "Female characters aren't as interesting as male characers!" debate, I'd made a few 100x100 pixel statements of my own -- various fandoms, various characters, various genders girls-only.

You're probably more gracious than that, but when I browse my flist and see a dedication at the top of a story, drabble, image, I occasionally pout, thinking Aw, Why Did No One Write That For Me?

Which is silly, self-centered, and entirely unfair to all my ljfriends who so readily respond to my prompts (when they ask) and even questions (that I ask). So, just the most recent fannish offerings people have invested time, effort, and inspiration in just because I asked:

kangeiko wrote me a drabble about Nadia and a fan (person, object, whatever).

kita0610 told me her Five best scenes between Angel and a minor character, and *why*

yin_again wrote a new installment of her These Days series because I was having a crappy week, and also a drabble featuring Rodney and Elizabeth.

And, of course:

eretria has been sending me SGA and BSG, plus all sorts of graphic/music goodies; so much of what you see here, from reviews to fiction to icons, simply wouldn't have been possible without her. Thank you, babe. *smooch*

It fascinates me, fandom's not-so-secret love for broken characters.

In any case, the main characters of these shows already have in-built fracture lines, from hairline fissures to visible cracks, and it's easy and logical to elaborate on them in both their non-fiction musings and their fiction: Faith and Angel and River and Sark and Jack and Irina? Pre-broken for our convenience, ours to shatter or mend or both -- or none, of course, if we chose to ignore or interpret what's already there a little differently.

Have just taken ten cubic metres or so of paper to the recycling bin, first at home, then in the office -- been going through my old study notes taken during years and years of lectures, university courses, and repetition classes, basically. Kept only very, very few of them. Je ne regrette rien (with regards to the throwing away spree, anyway).
