Catch-all post. (Only punny if you click the cut-tag?)

Second date with Butler!Boy went well: I wore a cute grey dress, he was a good guy and lifted my bike into the streetcar, and we ate our way up & down the sushi menu at the Japanese restaurant of our second third choice, which means ( foodie talk! )
Also, have some icons. I separate for fandoms because I care:
Stargate Atlantis: ( Rodney McKay, and also my John/Rodney OTP )
Star Trek XI: All of the main cast, almost? ( Kirk, Bones, Kirk/Bones, baby!Spock, Sulu (lots of him), Chekov, Uhura! )
True Blood: ( 3 Lafayette icons. I apologise for the gratuitous nudity; these seem to be the only ones of Lafayette online in high-ish quality. I wonder why... )
By the way, did you see my new blog design? I like it. It's simple.LIKE ME.

Saw the lights pale across the street
Jun. 17th, 2009 | 11:37 pm
location: Desk of Done Stuff
music: Frightened Rabbit - Who'd You Kill Now?
- Only came home after 11pm.
+ With those tummy troubles on the upswing.
- We'll see if the beef stripes with broccoli (ordered at 7pm, arriving at 9pm) change that one...
+ Date with film-maker yesterday night at the harbour bar went well: very interesting, if perhaps a bit too intense?
-
ciderpress, remind me to ask what your integrated bio-version of that Facial Recognition Software sez about him. Almost afraid, here.
+ Meeting
monanotmona (who has a LiveJournal now!) yesterday after work in a bar was alcohol-free, yet fun. I know. Marvel at the concept.
- Something we talked about: There is usually at least one obvious reason why a given single boy is single. Often enough, however, I cannot for the life of me see why a given single girl is single. Discuss.
+ I have 2 more Dreamwidth invite codes available. Pipe up, please.
- Why do I have to pay EUR 1,200 for this flight alone (not the car I need; not accommodation) to the US? Summer vacation, economic crisis with fewer seats, late booking, and even that darn detour to Minnesota cannot account for *three times* the price I paid the last time 'round, no?

Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail

music: Arlo Guthrie - City of New Orleans
My trip to Rhineland-Palatia visiting Tina, by the way? Was joyful, although I didn't sleep much (or maybe that should be a "because").
...okay; this was mainly to test the cross-posting of tags to DW that supposedly now works with this version of Semagic.
ETA: GRR ARGH NO.

Saturday Grab-Bag

music: Joshua James - Dangerous
Must wipe the floor and do the washing before the birthday-barbecuing at Mikey's later on, but if I don't post them now, I'll never post them:
(Does adding "on DW" to links makes you, too, feel as if you were playing the old "in your pants" game?)
-
athena25: "[...]we are made to believe it's unsafe, we are indoctrinated, whether well-intentioned or no, into believing that the world is just somehow more dangerous to women than to men, and that we should do things to ourselves to protect themselves from this terrible, violent world.
Fuck that noise."
- The New York Times, on House, M.D. (spoilers, duh): "Shamefully, I would have been overjoyed if the season finale had ended with House and Cuddy electing to spend the summer together in Corsica."
While I'm not particularly interested in this pairing, the article raises interesting points. Also, ( re: both House and Bones - series finales! )
-
the_grynne presents the teaser poster and a few photos from Alejandro Amenabar's historical epic Agora, set in 5th century Roman Egypt.
-
gnatkip tells us ALL about Better Living With Javascript (on DW).
-
coffeeandink posted on "Access Lists: The New Friends Trauma," including a fascinating poll - and the ensuing discussion (on DW) covers just about all viewpoints, I think.

music: Andrew Bird - Tables & Chairs
So I was looking for Bike Tour Routes online - where else, right? - and not only did I find rockin' route recs but, on the website of my city, I could check out the various routes (nature or cityscapes or both, yay) via one click to Google Earth and download the .pdf brochure with all the sightseeing locations, explanations, and plenty of maps.
I ♥ the age of technology.

Testing the cross-posting via Semagic

It is a-go. ♥
(Hat-tip to rheanna aka
rheanna27:) Here is the cross-posting manual as posted to getting-started.
'course, this is yet another fork in the road that may make me go ahead both ways because Frost never foresaw the wonders of technology, but I'd be lying if it didn't make me wonder if perhaps I should split up my blogging, after all. Yes, the last post I made on a similar subject had y'all answer that no, no, you enjoyed my (mostly fannish) icon posts alongside those whinings about the crazy colleague, but.
( I am [a paid/perm user], therefore I poll )

Wine & Dreamwidth
Apr. 16th, 2009 | 09:56 pm
music: rubies - stand in a line
After buying two bottles of wine - a 2003 Zin (bit acidic on the palate, which is So Not My Thing, but the taste is nice enough, all berry & bright with pepper notes) & a 2006 Malbec - I decided, what the hell, and got a decanter too. Some people call it decadence - well, maybe not, if they too only pay twelve euro? - I call it a valuable long-term investment that facilitates my enjoyment of all the lovely short-term investments of 750ml.
