As much as I believe children's access to either needs to be both supervised and limited--suggesting that total prohibition is an alternative to teaching your kids to think, question, and use reason makes me laugh (and not with the person).

Let me take just a moment to share my joy about ( CSI:Vegas 6x22 )

Note on Veronica Mars: Watched the finale last weekend and was both surprised and saddened. Roads not taken and roads yet to be taken, an open yet painfully permanent ending; I'd expected both less and more from Rob Thomas. The only thing left to say is that, despite my recent misgivings with it, I hate to see this show go off the air. No one will share this opinion, but I -- I'd trade all the Supernaturals of this world for more of Veronica, Wallace, Weevil, Mac, Logan, Cliff, the other sharply drawn Neptune citizens, and and their almost-but-not-quite over-saturated crime mysteries. Veronica wasn't perfect, or perfectly written (Hi, Rob Thomas: Issues, much?!), but she was my kind of girl: strong and fierce and quippy, always, always getting up again to fight...and beat them (with a capital T more often than not). She'll be joining Dana Scully, Buffy Summers, Aeryn Sun, Sydney Bristow, and Rose Tyler in my row of favourite and utterly kick-ass leads.

Last but not, err, you know: sageness is "looking for established relationship fic between adult women (not teens) - & OMG is it thin on the ground, even in original fic." thelastgoodname, mmmchelle, honeymink, can you help a girl out?

Buried in books, but I still come to tell you that yahtzee63 has risen to the "First Kiss" challenge.

Came back earlier -- frustrating story which I'll refrain from posting because while I love them, I don't need more glitter pens -- and had even escaped the Great Presentation for my supervisor. *exhale* Of course, aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben: forbearance is not acquittance.

Yesterday night, though, I stumbled across not one but two great femslash stories, which I'll proceed to share here. Both are excellent character pieces well worth reading (even if you don't cherish femslash per se).

The first one is a continuation of a fic I recommended before, Big girls don't cry by femmenerd, which all of you need to read not just because it's given us a John-Has-Two-Daughters Supernaturalverse but because it's awesome:

In high school girls always assumed Dee was gonna fuck their boyfriends, and she probably would, but that was actually beside the point.

The second one's made me very glad I read it despite the unconventional pairing and the low rating & ;-). technosage's Teyla voice is low-key but wry and amused, and her character dynamics made me smile with delight. Something for all my McShep friends, too, because the boys are a secondary (tertiary? quaternary..?) pairing. You should, however, know that she's playing off a casting rumour:

At lunch on the third day, Colonel Sheppard loosened the caps on all the condiments and Dr. McKay dumped an entire shaker of salt on his MRE. He ate the meal anyhow, but groused his way through every bite.

I'm always feeling slightly bereft, having no femslash pairing in my primary fandom. BtVS made me fall in love with Buffy/Faith, and Alias had me adore more than one spy girl duo over the course of the series, but there's no f/f couple in SGA that makes me sit up and take note. It's not all that surprising, though. ( Shipping tendencies including femslash )

1. (not worksafe) See, I wanted to be hip and interesting for once, but the hotness fried my brain, I forgot, and now half my flist has already linked to this blaze of beauty. But just in case... ::lifts your rock very gently::

2. mmmchelle said it like it is: If all of the fish_like_bikes stories are this good, I will be a very happy fan. Check out the two SGA stories she recommended; one will make you laugh, and the other -- wow. Sometimes, I really I love clichés.

...Well, if I were a male thus inclined, "for the outfit to wear, of course." Some spam header questions are so easy to answer.

Speaking of. Frustrated with our music television (yes, I know, a shame I even keep trying), I watched Papa in a Bikini?, a documentary about a French transvestite, his wife, and his children on arte last night-- not a simple story, but a touching one; all the conflicts and bigotry, but also the surprising instances at acceptance within the local community, the sense of hope and the absurd, with humour. What I loved best may have been the gentle, neutral tone, not interfering, just witnessing: letting Pascal and his wife and his children speak, argue, laugh, and touch with so much tenderness -- worlds apart from the glossy, over-the-top, sensational pseudo-documentaries on some of the commercial channels (Germans know what I'm talking about). And at the end, they tested the -- four! -- children for psychological abnormalities.

They didn't find any.

Now -- and actually quite a propos! -- a few thoughts on Farscape, ( Coup by Clam *plus rec* )
