Feeling the love

Fannish things I love right now:

- the Archive Of Our Own's functions: Did you know you can add an Inspiration or Remix link to a story, just like this?
Made for a veritable riffer like me. ;)
- my SGA Secret Santa assignment. I had been hoping for this wish, and I got it, also happening to adore the wish-er. Already got the big picture of my story - if not the details - mapped out in my mind. 's all good.
- SGA Big Bang, all live and in colour. No time right now, but boy, I foresee a few fantastic months of great Atlantis novelisations. (Y'all, keep reccin'!)
Must also mention the artists: I cannot wait to check out what they created and would totally do it before reading the stories if only the images and vids weren't per se spoilery. I'm constantly in awe of some of my fellow fans' talent (and basically chanting, WE ARE NOT WORTHY in advance).
Still, I contributed:

I still love that scene, yes I do.

Not long off the phone with The Best Sister Of Them All, but now, I need to share what the ever-fabulous
anna_luna made for me:
A drawing of Girl!John indirectly off Ard, directly off my story Not Ockham's, Exactly (or, as a delightful fan on del.icio.us called it, Cadman, Girl!John, and a very close thing).
(Seriously, go tell her how awesome it is!! ♥)

music: girlyman - superior
Today, despite not coming home too late, I had to force myself to the gym: Hard to resist ( the new netbook )
Like, is there a way to permanently kill Windows Media Player (which keeps popping up on my desktop with a link)? Or generally wipe the hard-drive of useless Microsoft crap? With "only" 160 GB of harddrive space - that I cannot locate, btw; adding up only gives this admittedly challenged math-user 146 GB - I have even less use for their critters of programmes.
In any case, while the Asus desktops are quite tasteful, I installed this one I made m'self as the new background:
( Obsessive love for the James Kirk/Chris Pine nexus is obsessive )
It's the glasses. Jesus.
And yes, I'm still on a Girlyman kick.

McShep Match Miscellanea
Jun. 11th, 2009 | 09:01 pm
I'd love to participate in the McShep Match 2009 - War & Peace - see the invitation & outline post.
As I'll be gone for a work seminar in Frankfurt this weekend, however, starting tomorrow, I won't be able to sign up on the one day when this is possible: Friday June 12th, from 10pm GMT. (When is that?) Would anyone of you be willing to do it for me? ETA: Cheers,
rheanna!
My team choice was very simple, not to mention visible in the fanart I made:

( 1 McShep Match - Team Peace - banner: full size )
( 3 icons off that banner. )
( 5 more icons, independent ones. )

Brain drain: only for professionals going away? I mean, I feel pretty drained even after staying in Germany, what with coming home only now - and going back tomorrow at an hour that recalls prepunctual feathered creatures.
That said, without much fanfare, have some icons & manips.
1. Girl!John
mashimero made this manip of girl!John; please forgive me - mashimero and everyone with, you know, taste or something like it - for fiddling with that very cool version yet again, with the ( result under the cut. )
Of these, only one is made off the original version: ( icons of Lt. Col. Sheppard herself. )
2.
For the reason in my whiny header above, I didn't get to any genderswitch story of mine. Mea culpa, but: my sleep, too. I ♥ it.

Sharing the love!

The love of both
vylit and Sarah Connor, that is. It's the former's graduation, so I made her a present featuring the latter:
( Sarah Connor, she of the Terminator Chronicles - a banner )
Watching the rest of the Bones finale now, and tomorrow, it's aforementioned company celebration in Mainhattan. I'll be back Sunday; you'll be good, okay? "Good" in the sense of "writing lots of John/Rodney smut," of course.

And as I'll be at the parents come this afternoon, until tomorrow, when I - hopefully - have A Very Special Event Scheduled, let me throw this at you now:
( SGA Story Cover )
Yes, as it might just be somewhat apparent - a cover for Converging by
purna
Next up: presenting
kaneko's Intersections as an interpretive dance.
But back to my "artwork:" Comments and criticism very, very welcome - I'd love to modify it according to other fanartists suggestions before posting it to any noticeboard.
ciderpress,

~27,000 wordsThis story (her John: oh, her John) is one of my all-time favourites, and I figured that especially in the face of woeful comments from certain SGA friends, recs are always good, and those done via other media than words might be even better.
John/Rodney (AU. ish.)

John saves a man from drowning and takes the long way home.

White fans talking amongst themselves: let me warn for that.

In fannish news, I spent the time before
hermine arrived not just baking and cleaning but also faffing around on the internets. Of course I did.
( Reading Comprehension & Race )
While I'm at it, have I already recommended
busaikko's War Stories universe, with the latest story already linked above? Well, I do now. Yes, she is the author who gives Sheppard AIDS, a penis where it doesn't belong, and, in this 'verse, a disability, but trust me, it always Makes Sense, is always worth the read. ♥

SGA ficlet, pairing withheld for sheer excitement value.
Mar. 1st, 2009 | 01:28 am
This was originally a drabble based on a prompt by
lunabee34; it turned into a 600-word-ficlet set post-Whispers.
But let me re-fresh your memories first: Whispers, yes. The episode with the planet of the mutants. Who looked like zombies. And produced killer fog. (I KNOW.) Still, a 100% women team. Um, yay?
Images of The Team, then. ( Major Anne Teldy, Sgt. Dusty Mehra, Cpt. Alicia Vega, and Dr. Alison Porter. )
You're welcome. Now.
( SGA ficlet. Rated PG. Set after 'Whispers.' )

Honeys, I'm home. Much as I love the parents, it was Time with a capital T, and besides: work again tomorrow. Had first Em (bringing herself, and how!) and then Mikey (bringing coffee & muffins for the three of us; it should seems to become a habit, after the last time when I was in hospital) over, though, so while the apartment was lonely when I came back, the evening at least wasn't.
In fannish news, I'm still not over SGA 5x19 Vegas. I couldn't cope (just couldn't cope /JCSS) and had to create a wallpaper-header-type graphic:
( Gorgeous John is gorgeous. )
I had mentioned that if you really want to watch Vegas, you can tug at my virtual sleeve, yeah?
sheafrotherdon gave us a first tiny glimpse at her episode tag story, too.

SGA 5x03
Oct. 20th, 2008 | 01:40 am
Loved the idea, raised my eyebrow at parts -- or members, ahem -- of the execution, and had ( one dominant impression of SGA 5x03 Outsiders )
Need to go to bed now, far from healthy in more than one way, but I need, yes, no, really need to share two (slightly improved) screencaps of Outsiders with you, courtesy of
colls. One is goofy yet pitch-perfect, one is gorgeous.

Other people write maudlin poetry when they're feeling none too happy; I make melancholic Sheppard banners.

Took care of some finances, must now study s'more French, and will tackle applications this weekend again.
In the mean time, have a look at these fannish contributions:
- Barb C., on writing: "So there are several ways of doing it...."
- Icarus made a handy-dandy table of all McShep Match stories.
- I created a John-and-Rodney banner for
anything_ucando.

Round-up
Mar. 20th, 2008 | 07:50 pm
Study Day was not at all nasty, but it was certainly brutishly short: After barely four hours, Cutie & I made our way to the other end of town for some supposedly awesome!1!! commercial repetition class...but no one showed up. Stell Dir vor, es ist Gründonnerstag, und keiner geht hin. ( More about my day & conversation topics )
I'll prepare some Indian veggie stir-fry with venison over French red baby potatoes now, but if anyone by any chance is into a) Fanmixes, b) CD cover graphics, or c) America's Best Dance Crew, check out the CD covers I made for
callherblondie's mix, Laconic: Tony Tran (Kaba Modern)

Thanks for playing in the What To Review Poll. *g* I know what to tackle first now. (Who'da thunk? Seems that "iconic" doesn't just mean "pertaining to 100x100 pixels.")
Random links before I throw myself into the next study session:
1. Here's a neat German pronunciation site I found while looking for something to help me teach
pukajen a bit of my language (she asked! Several times! I swear!).
2. I know some of you like cartoons/drawings/chibis and don't mind the cuter side thereof. If you've watched SGA even once, do check out
steammmpunk's artwork plus accompanying ficlet...and if you're really into that kind of thing, the icons I made from it. (Should you take, please just credit her).
3. For the BtVS AND Farscape fans --
thassalia wrote me a wonderful response to a meme of hers. As always, all of her -- panfandom! -- ficlets are wonderful.
ETA: ( Gratuitous quiz result )

Brief SGA Offering
Jul. 27th, 2007 | 03:28 pm
In the last study break, I may have made a simple John-and-Rodney banner.
( Still the least-artsiest! )
Also, if you like the McShep, even -- especially -- if you don't have much time, check out this little ficlet by
wesleysgirl (spoilers for Sunday, rated R for adult situations).
