Fannish pop-up

I spent my lunch-break bitching about discussing a certain story and pondering its terminology in a general slash context. In German, sorry.

Let me throw the core question at y'all.

Poll: Excuse me, ma'am, have you seen this acronym? )

PS: Yes, as the icon implies, I'm liking Life so far. Not terribly original, see my previous estimation, but it has more interesting (and more central) female characters than, say, Numb3rs where I've so far liked Amita and Charlie but am often stuck watching The Don & Department Show.

PPS: I really like to eat beef liver, but gah, preparing it is a bloody mess. Literally. Also, if you're interested in prettily displayed nutrition details for all kinds of foods, do check out this site: Nutrition Data (I'm eye-rolling at all the mentions of "weight-loss," mind you. As if that -- and not a healthy life & good meals -- were important. & :-)

1. M & M at the Movies

M(ona): "Munich!"
M: *looks dubious*
M: "Walk the Line!"
M(ona): *looks even more dubious*
M(ona): "Aeon Flux? It's got action."
M: Yeah, sounds good!

Aeon Flux, plus testing the waters...bars. Maybe the waters in bars? )

2. Precioso! Olympics )

3. While zapping, I passed MTV Germany and suddenly found myself watching the latest Rammstein video with a sort of horrid fascination. I'm not easily fazed, but Mann gegen Mann shows three times more naked male skin on naked male skin than Queer As Folk -- which they are broadcasting on Pro7 now, whee! -- and has lyrics that made me gape at the screen in total slash overload. And. There's oil involved. ([info]frogspace, I know you'd mentioned it, but seeing is believing.)

4. Karneval/Fasnacht ) On the other hand, Benares Silk and the local Karneval should not meet; that time of the year, Rough!Partying/Dirty!Streets is everybody's OTP...

Movie/notyet. Also: Academia meets Fandom -- once more with feeling

Our plan to see L'Auberge Espagnole II is cursed -- first, the Italian girl couldn't come, so the Russian boy who fancies her said we should postpone it, and today, when all of us had the time, we found out Wednesday was the only day with an earlier showing only. Hélas! Next week, hopefully.

Now. Do you read and/or write fanfic in general, slash specifically?

If you feel like answering one or more of the following questions )please head over to [info]trinityofone's LJ, who managed to involve not one but three of her university professors in a new academic look at slash and will write a paper on the whole phenomenon.

I know many of you have already written plenty on that topic and don't feel like repeating yourselves -- would you care to provide links, perhaps, so she can stand on the shoulders of y'all giants and have a better look at it all? & :-)

PS: Spread the word, if you will -- your LJs, communities, message boards... *Cheers*!

Storytelling and sex scenes

Got your attention, eh?

A cut-tag wherein she talks about disclaimers re: the latest NC-17 fiction read )

Here's an interesting essay/analysis of erotic fiction -- for writers and readers, with real books *and* fanfic: Storytelling: Sex Scenes

Somewhat related to the subject line -- hey, [info]eretria, [info]trinityofone, and what seems half my flist: I watched the Pilot of SGA )
