On my way to bed, but:

this must be a case for mulder and scull
I have no idea if the poster was serious, but oh, this fandomsecret made me smile.

Not actually fandom-specific PostSecret behind the cut )

PS: Where are all the Atlantis ones? SGA fandom, don't let me down!

PPS: Chris Carter, stop making Scully cry. Also, I hate the fact that I keep accidentally adding a "t" to your first name. &>:-(

PPPS: Stop hurting Mulder, while you're at it. Je-sus. I remember Mulder!Torture being an actual genre, but friends, Americans, countrymen -- don't emulate a creator who clearly has no idea how to treat his characters, much like those Panda bear mommies that let their cubs starve to death rather than nurse 'em.

After a...well, it was a day, I'm drinking the rest of the wine, having my bread with (new and different) goat's cheese & The Best Ham In The World -- ask [info]darcydodo -- and watching more of The X-Files.

Up to the finale of S8! )

In less paranormal-dramatic news, it's a tempest outside. Nights like these, I'm not thrilled about living in the souterrain.

(Now talking to my father on the phone. Aw, Papa. The international rise in art prices interests me for artistic and globalisation-related cultural reasons, but it's certainly not what I consider in conjunction with my budget; the truth is that my parents started collecting little pieces from small galleries and newcomers when they were, what, 22? I'm 29 now, and the only art I own is what my friends made for me.)

Yet more nostalgia

MSR FOREVER!11!!!
While tediously, so tediously filling out application forms in PhotoShop -- thanks to them being available only as .pdf files and according to the demand they be completed with a typewriter, WTF? -- I'm watching The X-Files in order to prep myself for the movie.

Scully smiles, Mulder deadpans, and so on )

Of course, if you have suggestions to this my post, shoot!

You guys, I love Bones so. Very. Much. ♥

Almost done with Season Three now... )

When I'm done, though, I want to see all your reactions. I'm going to make a Bones reading filter (for those already on my flist) and will read anything in the way of ep reviews & meta that you link me to (if you're not on my flist).

...remember, if you're not on my little flist: Links to your Bones post(s) in the comments? I'm very interested! & :-)

On to the meta part of the post! A couple of nights ago, just before dozing off, still smiling from the responses to my Bones Appreciation Post, I read one line in a fanpost that resonated with me -- she said what she loved best was the "casual confidence of the women on the show." And I thought, yes, that's it, right there.

We do see confident women in other shows -- but is there anything casual about the confidence of these women? Looking at the Doylist and the Watsonian level, the writers' portrayal as well as the characters' actions, I don't think that's too common. How 'bout we take a peek at The X-Files, House, and CSI? All of these, to some degree, served as templates for the Bones creators.

House, M.D. )

MSR FOREVER!11!!!
I've been all over the fascinating business of cancelling my telecommunication contracts today, but mostly, I've been relaxing...and am still going strong in that area: Drinking the rest of this wine my parents let me open to celebrate my Oral Exam towards the end of last week, and watching the Munich Tatort (I ♥ Batic & Leitmayr).

In other tv news pertaining to my oldest OTP: I asked in a community for The X-Files episodes of Season 8 & 9 necessary to get the movie:

[info]superplin has just watched Humbug (♥) and is now willing to give The X-Files another chance. So, if you always wanted to say something about the show and recommend the good episodes (let us not talk about the starlight, mmkay?), now is probably the time to do so in her lj.

Life = so unfair

Turned in the dictaphone cassette tapes containing my weekend's work and then sat in a meeting with my supervisor and two colleagues for what felt like ages--interesting but surprisingly exhausting; or maybe that's from the little cold that's been circling me, forcing me to fend it off with lots of oranges. Was much perkier due to wearing my new Christmas gift blouse with the black pin-striped suit (this is not quite it, and I only wish it were non-iron, but close enough).

Mostly, I'm posting to complain that it only takes two (2) livejournal posts about the upcoming second X-Files movie (*squee*) to make me dream about both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, who I hung out and chatted with for pretty much the duration of the dream, whereas I've been staring longingly at Joe Flanigan in films as well as on photos and my tv screen for three years now without ever once having him enter my nightly subconscious.

Friday night, and I'm home alone. By tomorrow, I'll no doubt be less dead and bother [info]witchsis or [info]grundbuch or the old friendsfolk, but tonight I was happy to just be able to sit back, read the friendslist, and ponder fandom. Which I love, whom I love.

[info]thassalia gives us some sweet and true thoughts about International Women's Day & fandom.

[info]chase820 and I talk about House M.D., Why We Ship Them All, and that mindgames are where it's at. (Also that Chase -- the doctor not the fellow LJ fan, although I'm sure it's true for her, too -- is pretty.)

Icon fans, go vote in this round of the [info]sheppard_lims contest. If you like.

And, since I have computer access even though I am not in my own apartment right now, I won't share my five fave stories of my own with you but my five fave drabbles )

In other – much more important but also much more anxiety-inducing – news, it seems several US States' voting computers have broken down. Indiana, Ohio, notably East Cleveland. 1. BtVS

A lot of Buffy/Faith fic is – understandably – dark, angry, dramatic, or all of the above; this one's different and precious because it hits all the right notes with them but does so gently, calmly. Piano.

Downtime by [info]voleuse

They spell it with a little "s" now, and no one says "the" anymore. Except with Buffy.

2. BtVS/AtS

a) It's been pimped all over my Jossverse flist, and rightly so -- the vid of all the kick-ass BtVS/AtS women that [info]gwyn_r has created. Looking back at all of them, good or evil, sweet or smart-ass, I miss them so. It just strikes me as amazing, this kind of variety of different characters, the way they were portrayed, for the most part. Other shows have had and will have female heroes or even superheroes, but this corner of the Jossverse will always, always be my favourite because it had it all. Had them all.

Female of the Species

3. AtS/The X-Files

[info]st_salieri is doing what hasn't been done often enough: She's writing a Jossverse/The X-Files crossover. Mulder! Scully! Spike! Buffy! Angel! I'm thoroughly charmed. WIP warning, and come to think of it, spit-take warning, too.

Stranger than Fiction

There was a short pause. "Second time. I think. After I was dead. Or was that the third time?"
"Wait, do you mean captured-by-aliens-dead, or Navajo-ritual-dead?"
Buffy snorted. No way had this guy been dead more times than her. Amateur.

In other news, the news about US teenagers & The Ancient Art Of Definining Sex made me shake my head...and suddenly remember Rachel Anton's Slippery Slope -- still great fun; even if you're not an X-Files fan, you may want to read the first half of it. (After that, it's geared toward my fellow MSR shippers. *g* Rating in the header yadda yadda yadda.)
